Willing to personal swap for art of my doggies!

This is the piece that I made for the 6x6" More Art, Less Craft swap... I was originally going to go with a more mixed media/collage piece, but I hit a blank after the initial texturing and base paint layer.  Then I went with what I love, birch trees....

This is a chunky 6x6" canvas - meaning it has a nice thick 1.5" wood frame, wrapped in canvas.  That means there is a nice niche in the back, which I took advantage of too.

Here is the front, painted with acrylics.  I wrapped the texture around to the back, and turned the back into a little dimensional winter woods scene.  I used die cut pieces, textured snow, and glitter for this little hidden scene.

This was a lot of fun to do - once I go over the mind blank.  I had actually prepped 4 canvases with different colours and styles... but ended going with what I loved each time - the colour I loved... then the subject I loved.

The moral of the story is to go with what you love...

More on my blog, with a huge tonne more of pics, if anyone is interested in more...

So pretty and I love the sneaky surprise of a canvas becoming a 360-degree sculpture!

How could someone choose just one side to display? They're both so amazing that you'd have to rotate it every 20 minutes. Smiley

LOL - I should have put it on a spinning base!

I have a thing about leaving unfinished sides - I just can't do it.  Usually I put a label or something on.  But the thicker canvases are intriguing because of that nice deep niche is just begging to be decorated.  I have three other canvases prepped also and they all are done so that I can decorate the niche in the back.  I decoupaged several layers of newspaper into the niche to give it structure, and to hide the nails where the canvas is secured to the frame.

Some details here about that

Awesome piece and I so love that you made that amazing little wintery diorama on the reverse side.  We have TONS of birch trees where I live, so I see them everyday, and you most definitely captured them beautifully!
