While packing up my  home to move, I am going through my stash and being quite harsh with what to keep or not.
I have had my Great Grandmother's Scrabble guide book, all nice and fragile and yellowing, since childhood. I dip into it once in awhile for crafting and was about to chuck it instead of pack it. I am so tired of packing so decided to take a much needed break and spend two hours crafting with the remains of the book before recycling it forevuh.

As a writer, I am totally in love with words. They bring me such joy and laughter.  This piece says WORDS DANCE THROUGH OUR INFINITE UNIVERSE

I chose my favorite color as highlights. Everything is glued. Watered down glue. The color is glue mixed with acrylic paint. Had to be careful not to put too much paint in, so the words would not get blotted out by color.
For the dancer himself, I outlined him  with a metal pointer instead of scissors. Then I ripped carefully along that scoring to give the edges a  nice soft look.

Sides got covered, too. I sure discovered a buncha words I never knew existed!  I did random pages and was more that a bit paranoid that FLATULENCE or some such horror would land front and center of the piece. I have decided not to look to closely, lest I begin to regret throwing caution to the wind.

thanks for looking!!

This is a great way to use your grandmother's guide book one last time then send it on it's way to become something else entirely! Good luck on your move!

That is absolutely fantastic and I love it. What a great way to keep a part of that special memento without holding onto too much extra stuff. Good luck with your move!

Very neat piece; I love the texture and appearance of the torn pages as well as the contrasting figure and phrase you chose to highlight in color.

I always paint over my papier mache creations, but I've also found that randomly glued printed words can sometimes give you unintended and amusing results.

Good luck with your move and I hope that you enjoy your new residence, wherever it is!

This is amazingly gorgeous! I adore the look of torn paper, and the "found poetry" style words you chose. <3
