I had an idea for making a porg, so here he is. I made him on Saturday night, just in time for the last day of the Calgary Comic Expo, where I had a booth. He did not sell. I'm thinking he is too Derpy. What are your thoughts? How can I make him less Derpy? Is derpy a selling feature, lol or even the right description? At least he is super soft and cozy. For now he can cheer me on while I sew.

Oh just in case you were wondering, he is a modified ITH penguin from Dolls and Daydreams.

Sometimes things just don't sell for nebulous reasons.  Various plush designs will appeal, or not appeal, to different tastes.

It's possible that, if you tried again, at a different venue, it might sell.  Maybe your asking price was too high and your Porg might sell at a lower amount if you're willing to go that route.  It certainly looks like a Porg to me and not particularly "derpy".  I suppose you could add some orange around the eyes or reduce the size of the head to make it more in proportion to the body.

I think the thing I would change is his mouth - all the porg pictures I've seen (and I just checked again) have the mouth turned down, not up in a smile. I like your porg, but I think a down-turned mouth might make it look more porg-like, ya know?

Very cute, though! Smiley

That's a good point, Porgs usually do look kind of sullen or thoughtful more than anything else.

I don't know anything about what a Porg/derpy is, but this guy is adorable!
