I recently had two family members with birthdays and decided to try wood burning.  I have to say that while wood burning is fun it is not as easy as it looks.  The places I burned are not real even Angry After I did the designs I sanded and sealed them so they could be used as cutting boards.

I think the unevenness give it character Smiley. I love the sausage dog.

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

Those are fun! I think they look good. Wood burning by nature isn't perfect, it's supposed to have a bit more of a rustic feel to it. You did a nice job.

I'm not sure what you mean by uneven. They look perfect to me. I might have to swipe your idea for my sister. She has a beagle that she is insane over and a beagle cutting board would be adorable! What did you seal it with?

Thanks guys!  I sealed it with butcher block wax to deal it.

Ohh, I will have to look butcher block wax up now. We are going to cover our kitchen island in block and I want to keep it nicely. I have a mineral oil specifically for cutting boards but have not heard of wax. Smart!

I think they look great! I tried wood burning several years ago and was surprised how difficult it was. Often I ended up gouging the wood instead of burning it. I love your idea though so I may have to break out my wood burner again.
