Soooo, here's an Artist Trading Card to celebrate the colors of Spring!

This little lady, finding herself on a somewhat dreary and grey distant planet, has imbued her helmet with rainbow colors, so that everything she looks at is no longer dead and dreary, but alive with the bright cheerful colors of spring!

In the World Beyond
an ATC by Jessica Utley
Handdrawn with Prismacolor Pencils on Green Paper

Some closeups:

If you look at this close-up you can see the underlying color of the green paper coming through.  This subtly influences the overall feeling of the drawing.

The fun thing about Prismacolor Pencils is that their waxy nature allows them to blend colors into each other, creating a smooth finish, when you want it to, like this area in the back of her neck.

I will forever be grateful to Craftster, and the Ongoing ATC Swaps (which I've been involved in for 10 years this year!) for introducing me to this mini-art format that has allowed me to hone my skills!

Love that green underlay, that is really interesting and you are right, it lends a lot to the finished product. Nicely done.

Cool cosmic card!  The figure and background both look great and having her space helmet exhibit the colors of spring is an interesting and unique approach to tackling this contest's theme.

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

Beautiful! It looks like the cover of an old, obscure sci-fi novel (that I would really love to read!). I'm so impressed that this is ATC-sized - so much detail!

Love the story behind the picture and I am in awe of all the detail you get on such small drawings. Completely in awe!

So beautiful!  I love the idea that she's taking her own rainbow with her wherever she goes.  We could all stand to do that.
