This bag has been a WIP for the longest because I kept forgetting to buy the longer pins I needed to pin thru the layers of interfacing and fabric. It's kinda my fault though for using a slightly heavier interfacing for lining the outer part of the bag because it's what I had on hand.
Back when I bought the fabrics for this bag, I bought them because they were on clearance and I liked them but wasn't quite sure what to do with them.
I sent a pic to my younger sister and she said they would make a cute purse so I started looking through the purse patterns I have downloaded and found the Lilac Mini Messenger Bag by Blue Calla Patterns (it's free!) and made this bag for her.
It's a very easy pattern to follow and the bag made up rather quickly after I finally remembered the pins I needed Tongue

Please excuse the ugly, dingy door curtains behind it. They came with our house and I've yet to make new ones.
Also, the flap wasn't sewn on backwards: my sister wanted the flap to contrast with the outside of the bag.

Thanks Cheesy My family's supposed to come over today and I'm going to give it to her then. I hope she likes it but if she doesn't, I'll gladly use it! Grin
I would love to make another bag in this style. I just need to track down the other twist lock. But that's a bit like finding a needle in a haystack Tongue

Thanks Cheesy She did indeed love it. It's smaller than what she normally carries but she said it will be great for short trips.
And no problem on sharing the pattern. I always try to give credit where it's due and share pattern links (where appropriate) so that other folks can easily find them.

Thanks Cheesy
Another bag with these fabrics is in the cards, even if I have to use a different pattern to do it (still can't find that twist lock)! I really like how the fabrics look together.

I love the fabrics on this. I have used that pattern too and I love it. Simple and the results are really nice. I was thinking of sizing it up next time a little since it is slightly small. I can't wait to see what else you make with these fabrics. I agree with your sister. I like the contrasting fabric for the flap.

gozer, I've also considered sizing it up a bit because of it's smallness. I don't use bags this size anymore because I'd rather just carry one big bag with my stuff and the kiddo's instead of a purse AND a diaper bag. Maybe someday I'll use smaller purses again.
I have a ridiculous amount of these fabrics. I have at least 15 more yards, which will be turned into curtains for my living/dining room (it's open concept) when I find the time.
