I don't need no instructions to know how to rock.

My family does monthly craft groups, and I organized for us to make nail polish and some other bath/beauty items one weekend.  I had a bunch of left over nail polish bottles, so I made sets to use as holiday gifts.

I see now that I took the photos before I wiped down the bottles, so just ignore the pretty mica finger prints.  Roll Eyes

It was easy and KIND OF fun to make.  Basically, it's just a nail polish base that buy in bulk, pour into bottles, add the mixer balls, and custom color with mica (and glitter).  The not fun part is mixing in the mica and glitter.  I literally had a sore arm and a tendinitis flare for a few days!

They're pretty to look at though, so it was worth it.

I did not know you could make your own nail polish! That is so cool, my daughter will be thrilled to hear this. How fun!

I had no idea you could make it yourself either. Was it expensive?

I bet the cost per bottle isn't that much but purchasing all the supplies might add up. Perfect for a multi-person party or somebody who likes nail polish a LOT! The thing I want to know most is if it's as smelly as store bought, that's the one thing I really don't like about my daughter painting her nails. A low-odour version would make me feel better about her little girl lungs.

Thanks for all the kindness!

I had no idea you could make it yourself either. Was it expensive?

They were about $1.30 per bottle (base, mixer balls, bottles), not counting the cost of the different micas and glitters (which add up, especially if you want a bunch of different colors, but such a small amount is used per bottle that I don't want to try calculating the price).  So kind of expensive, but I got the stuff from Brambleberry, and they tend to be a little higher anyway.  I'm sure there are less expensive options!
