:)Got a bit late into washi tape. I do not want too many rolls... So as an alternative I make paper strips colored with watercolors paints and sometimetimes acrylic paints etc. I just use glue to add them to my art journal pages, embellishments, notes etc. Technically not washi just looks a little like it.
Trees and water jars Cotman W & N watercolors on plain copy paper.

Two  XL beaded paperclips.

I LOVE the idea of watercolored/drawn/any medium handmade washii tape!  If you don't mind, may I try my hand at it?

Yes anyone can do this, it is nice to use up paperstrips. You can also add glimmer mist or or wash of homemade shimmer. Small jam jar of boiled cooled of water, a little gum arabic fluid, some liquid watercolor and little spoon mica powder and shake well before use. Apply this shimmer wash with a paint brush.
To give pearlescent effect to the paper strips/washi/the iridescent medium by Winsor Newton adds very pretty sparkle sheen effect.
Strips with some added relief gold paint is nice.
With deckle scissors you can cut the strips out with a nice edge instead of straight line.
You can make different widths like 1 cm or 1 inch or bigger. The thinnest paper strip I paint is 0.4 mm.
With acrylic paint you can apply a bit thicker to get relief/raised paint look.
For painting strips steady hands and good light as the motivs are small I usually do this mornings
