A few years ago, my mom gave me and everyone she knew Snuggies for Christmas. Well, nice idea, but, no one in my family really used them much. I decided that instead of donating or throwing out mine, I would use the fleece fabric and some of my stash of pet-related fabrics to make little blankets for a local animal shelter.  They use them to line cages and carriers as well as give them to new pet parents!

Basically, I found out what sizes they needed and cut and pieced the fabrics, sewed them and the fleece together like a pillow case...lightly quilted them...

I managed to get 11 little blankets to donate...and now, my siblings plan on giving me their Snuggies, so looks like more blankets are in my future! lol  Grin

Inspected by my old cat, Rico--no, he does not get one because he tends to poo in his carrier...

All bundled up to take to the shelter!  You can see the bright blue of the Snuggie... Grin

What a sweet idea! Maybe if Rico had a nice Snuggle lining in his carrier he would refrain from pooing?

WOW! Great way to use that Snuggie material for something someone will use! And a great stash bust for those cute prints!

Those are SO CUTE! I love they are going to a shelter. A nice blanket will be a comfort to the animals and the lovely bright prints will look so cheery to the peoples. Sometimes those are sad places, a little happy there is a big huge good thing Smiley.

I love the colors, I love the fabrics, and I love the fact that you are donating them for animals in a shelter!

I just got a rescue bearded dragon, and I wish there was something I could make to donate for that cause.  It breaks my heart how some of these animals have been treated!   Cry
