Well. I sewed The Shirt We Don't Taco 'Bout for The ManFlesh for xmas and he promptly caught it/himself on fire a couple weeks ago! He was not hurt and nothing other than the shirt was damaged. But DAGNABIT that shirt took for-dang-ever to make and it was practically brand new!

So I decided I would try to patch it and I decided that using the same material would make for an obvious patch so I might as well make it look like a design choice and if it was going to be a design choice it might as well be kind of funny.

I will have to replace the lower part of the button placket, so I will sew the left side under the new one and used the flaming taco to cover the hole and discolored taco print fabric. As you can see there are A LOT of layers in some parts of the patch, so I cut away as much as I could to make it mostly only one layer thick and it kind of makes the back look really cool!

I'm sorry you had to patch the shirt, but that was a fantastic way to fix it!

That's a big hole! I'm glad he wasn't hurt at all. I think your patch is brilliant and I suspect the repaired shirt will be even more amazing than the pre-flamed version Smiley.

That patch is epic!  It practically screams: "There's a story here!" And then more sedately adds, "But I'm artfully covering it up..."

It's Perfect.
