All year round my skin needs a little extra moisture here and there, but if you have a new engagement ring to show off, you may want to take a bit of extra care of your hands. This DIY body balm with natural ingredients will make your hands (and lips and feet) happy. So easy!

Here is what you need for this project:
Beeswax
Coconut Oil
Cocoa Butter Tablets
Any essential oil either for scent or medicinal purposes

The ratio that I use for this is 1 part beeswax and 1 part cocoa butter tablets to 2 parts of coconut oil, BUT this is approximate. The essential oil is just a few drops. Just note that cocoa butter and beeswax are fairly hard, so you will want more of the coconut oil to make more of a consistency that will melt with body heat.

You will also need the following to make this body balm with natural ingredients:

Glass pouring dishes for melting (2)
Grater
Microwave
Containers for placing your balm

First, you will need to grate the cocoa butter and beeswax. The cocoa butter goes grate a tad bit easier than the beeswax for sure.

I use the microwave to melt everything. Its best to use a glass container with a pour spout. I also melt the beeswax and cocoa butter separately and first. They take a bit longer (I do 30 second increments and stir in between each) to melt than the coconut oil, so I melt the coconut oil afterwards in a separate container.

Once everything is melted, stir everything together. So, you will have a container filled with melted beeswax, cocoa butter and coconut oil.

Then, its time to add in your few drops of essential oil to the melted mixture. Be sure that your containers are ready, and then just pour the mixture into each of the containers be careful not to overfill!

Then voila! You have your own DIY body balm with natural ingredients that you made yourself!

It is important to note that it will have a hardened consistency that will melt with body heat. Here are my favorite places to use this body balm:

Lips
Hands
Elbows
Heels
Face (yes, my face!)

Also, as a sidebar, this can also act as a sugar scrub. How? Just use a half teaspoon or so of the balm and add in a half teaspoon of sugar. It is perfect for your hands and even your heels. Just wash away the sugar when you are finished, and the oils stay behind to hydrate your skin. I love this stuff!

Thanks for this creation! Where do you buy your Beeswax? I can't find any shop that sells this near me!

Nice tutorial, lots of room for customizing with scent & other additions Smiley.

If there is a healthfood store or farmer's market near you with a vendor selling local honey you may be able to get wax right from the apiary. That's the nicest stuff out there but cosmetic grade bars & even pellets (yay, no need to grate the stuff!) Is available online from loads of places.
