After accepting my dad's old record collection and sorting it into keep/sell/donate, I still had a bunch that were either damaged or just... things no one would want.  Tongue

So I gave one right back to him in the form of this 3D hawk!

The pattern I drew up slots 3 pieces together, but they were a little loose so I ended up hot gluing them in place. I touched up the glue with black paint so it wouldn't be noticeable.

It's now hung above some plants in my dad's office, and looks pretty nice there.

I also made some more simple ornaments to give to family and friends for Christmas - 3 bears, 2 cats, and 1 leopard gecko!

For all of these, I used a woodburning tool with a razor blade attachment to cut through the vinyl, and then a thin tip to burn a small hole for hanging. I smoothed out the edges a bit with 120 grit sandpaper.

They look fantastic.  A great reuse of records that no one will use as records!

These are pretty sweet!  I've seen old records made into some interesting things, but never anything quite like these, and I've always loved slot-and-tab 2.5D figures.

Interestingly, when I first looked at the first image, before reading your text, I interpreted the hawk as a ghostly figure (I saw the wing farther away from us as the "head", the bird's head and tail as "arms", and the wing closer to us as a tattered sheet).
