The more I think about it, the more I would like to do a workshop. I struggle with contributing to the consumption of natural resources & semi-precious stones & those rainbow throwing crystals surely use up lots of energy & create much pollution in their production. I have figured out how to by pass purchasing from a wholesale or retail source & order them directly from the point of origin (China. Everything comes from China now) so the dollar cost is very low. Perhaps charging a small fee that can be donation to an ecological organization would somewhat offset the negatives & ease my conscience. I'll have to think about it some more...

I go through the same thinking with everything I make.  The earth's resources are being depleted and the way I craft doesn't help.  It is so hard to minimize one's footprint.

Ugh, yes, this.  I can use all the secondhand fabric I want, & I'm still burning electricity as well as stitching with new thread & stabilizer, neither of which are really available in eco-friendly options.  Sad

I feel like there should be a thread about this somewhere, or a board for ways to minimize your crafting impact & share what supplies are less ecologically problematic.

There's the REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING board, it functions a bit different from others though. People post a smattering of eco-crafts that I always find so inspiring - I'm looking at you blupaisan! There's the destash-along which is all about using what you've already got and this thread which I find really keeps me on track about what I was planning to make with all the ideas and supplies I collect. I think a lot of us are as mindful as much as possible and I really do think that's good enough. We live here on planet earth and we are going to consume, not just for sustenance but also for pleasure. I think the stress we attach to those choices is unnecessary and can take away some of the enjoyment of the activity and then what is the point of it at all? I craft as therapy, I need it to help me get through the rough parts of life, it's got high value in my life. Being able to choose an ecologically sound option whenever I can is the sugar on top of that cake but it can't always be the deciding factor. I think it is enough to be mindful as much as we can, nothing is perfect but having habits that dictate you are even thinking about these things is great. You gals get a pat on the back for doing that, I consider it an awesome way to be Smiley.

Finished this cushion cover and got the insert today just in time for a bday party for my girl's friend. Hope she likes it, I thought it turned out pretty sweet.

CLM, where did you find that galaxy fabric?

I recently found 2 used/resale craft and art supply stores. I've been shopping there lately unless I need something really specific. I'm also cleaning out stuff to donate since one of them is a nonprofit. That helps me feel little less guilty.

I got it at Fabricland (in Canada), I'll find out what it's called. I seem to remember it had a fancy name. It was on sale so probably end of season at this point.

There's not much in this world that can't be improved by either chocolate, bacon or glitter.

I made a thing! I am starting to think that these wee dioramas are my favorite thing to make, even though I don't do them very often.

This diorama is made using almost entirely stash!
