Hey there! Iím new, so pardon if Iím in the wrong place. I recently received a cute rug from my little brother for Christmas. Unfortunately, it is way too bright for my taste. I was wondering if there is any way I can darken the colors or just dye it black. I have a whole box of TULIP dyes that are also available to use. Thanks! Hereís a link to the rug.

I'm a bit sad because I love that rug. Like, LOVE it. The colours are so perfectly me. I get it though that it might be a bit bright for some, lol.

I wash rugs like that in the machine but hang them to dry. A dye bath would probably take, if not fully black at least duller shades. Careful not to ruin the washing machine if you dye in it though.

Welcome to Craftster, Katie!! You've got this in just the right category. I once dyed a brown wool jacket with a pack of red tulip dye and had pretty good results. I was looking for a dark-ish red color and used a brick red thinking the brown base would keep it duller (it did). This was just for a costume though. I only hand washed and hung it to dry once after dyeing since it was wool.

You will have to show us the results when you are done! Cheesy
