One of the many great things about pets is that you can photograph them in their Christmas gifts before Christmas, wrap up their gift, put it under the tree, and it doesn't really ruin the surprise.  Roll Eyes

One the nicknames I use most for Delia is "Pumpkin Butter," so I decided to make her a pumpkin coat for xmas. It was a half-stash/half-new project.

I quilted in the lines to give it more of a pumpkin look on the back and front/underside.

I geeked out about the details, so I'm going to foist photos of such off onto you all! Lucky.

The "stem" neckline and the leaf decoration:

The nubbin-thingie.

I had on hand the green fleece lining, the dark brown fleece for the stem/nubbin-thingie, the extra strong hook & loop tape, and all the thread. I bought the orange flannel body and tan fleece stem/nubbin-thingie - both one sale.

The action shots are more accurate color-wise.

I love it! It looks so cozy and cute. Smiley Did you use a pattern or tutorial or just come up with it? It looks so great. I love the leaf detail too!

Thank you! Last year I bought a good-fitting coat for her at TJ Maxx and made a pattern from it. This the third thing I've made from it!

Adorable! I love that you copied a pattern from an existing garment, that is a skill all stitchers would benefit from. I am so sad when a favourite wears out, it would be great to be able to just make a new one! Smarty Wink.

Thanks all!

Outfits for "big" dogs (over 45 pounds) are a lot harder to find than for smaller dogs and also a lot harder to find in a price range I feel comfortable with, so you bet your bippie I copied that coat! Only 3 pieces, luckily.  Wink

Oh - cute pumpkin puppy!!!!  I like it - and it will be a nice bright colour for walking when it is dim, etc.  I actually have some bright orange fleece for making safety vests for the dogs too.  Your idea is so much cuter!!!

Thank you, ladies!

I think it will come in handy for forest walks! She's always on leash, but there are hunters about, so we all wear a little orange.

OMG I love it!  The leaf totally makes it!

Thanks! Once I thought of adding the leaf, I knew I had to do it.
