A couple years ago, I made a tree advent calendar, with felt ornaments for my kids to hang.  My sister loved it so much, she asked if I could make one for her some day.  And here is hers, in all it's glory!

I had hoped to finish it in order for the parcel to reach her by December 1st, but ill health prevented that unfortunately.  In fact, one piece of the calendar was not done by me - my mom attached the binding as I've injured my hip and can't use a sewing machine.

First we have a star (always hung on December 1st!), then a snowflake and letter to Santa.

Next, a Christmas Hedgie, Carol music, skating girl (based on Sunbonnet Sue), and a vintage bauble.

Now we have a silver bell (one of our favourite carols to sing together), a Christmas pud (we are huge Harry Potter fans, and love all things British.  Plus Christmas pud is yum!), and an elf shoe.

A gingerbread man (his head turned out a bit small) and a kitty (she loves our kitties).

A puffin (she lived in the Maritimes for a few years, and loved it and misses it a lot), candy cane, and a snowman identical to one on our tree.

Wee mittens, Rudolph, and a cute but slightly ersatz bunny.

An old fashioned Christmas bulb, a lighthouse (again for her beloved Maritimes), and a polar bear (Canada is full of 'em!).

Finally a toque to match the mittens, a little Matryoshka, and Santa Claus - only hung on Christmas Eve!

Here is everything all together.

I am so proud of this project.  It was a slow slog, doing tiny bits at a time, but it is finished, and bound with love by our mom as well.  I hope she loves it as much as I do.

Happy Holidays!

Oh, it is so lovely! My mama requested a tree to hang on the wall and this is perfect! And very funny that I think I have bookmarked an image of each sort of ornament you made too, ha ha!
I am fairly certain the word "toque" is only used in Canada, I wonder how many non-Canucks even know what that means? Or how to pronounce it... Cheesy.

This is absolutely beautiful. My grandmother had a similar advent calendar when I was a kid that I always loved. All the details are amazing. Great work!

Thank you so much!  I'm really proud of it!  I kind of want to swap out some of our ornaments for some I made for her, like the skating girl and carol music lol.  I made us a BB-8 that's slightly funny looking, though the kids love it so I don't think it can go!

This is an amazing project and pretty epic in scope!  I've never seen an advent calendar done in this fashion before either, and I think hanging up the ornaments as the days pass is a really neat way to go about it.  Lovely and diverse collection of ornaments too--I like the letter to Santa, carol music, skating girl, puffin, lighthouse, and pair of mittens the best out of the group.  That will definitely be a treasured family keepsake for generations to come, bravo!

These are adorable, it will surely be cherished for years to come. I remember we had a similar designed one when I was in elementary school that was always in hot demand of who got to put the ornaments on.
