Prompt:  January Challenge - Hamilton
Team: Wordy
Bonus Points: Meme
Project Name: Orange Pound Cake
Project Link:
Brief Description: This is a Martha Stewart recipe. It's from a book, not the site. It was fantastic. It is pretty different than the lemon one I made. It took a good amount of juice as well as rind so it was just the right amount of moist. Pound cakes were popular in Hamilton's time. I imagine they always had desert and coffee on lovely china after their meals. Historically they had one pound each of butter, sugar, eggs, and flour. I did not make an authentic pound cake because I'd end up eating it in two days.

Here are a few projects that I made for the Hookers Only Swap (plus one for me, as a bonus Smiley ).

Prompt:  December- All Your Base Are Belong to Us
Team: Textbook
Bonus Points: Meme Bonus, Swap Bonus, Brain Power, Community
Project Name: Amigurumi Kitty
Project Link:  https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=454292.0
Brief Description: I made this for geekgirl1000100 in the Hookers Only Swap. She doesnt like to do amigurumi, but she loves cats, so I figured Id make an ami kitty for her. I used a free pattern from here and she also has a really neat way to tie in the tails after youve stitched them on, which I had never seen before (watch the video it makes it just a little easier to understand), and Ill be finishing all of my amigurumi projects using this technique!

Prompt:  February- Judging/Perception
Team: Textbook
Bonus Points: Meme Bonus, Swap Bonus
Project Name: Crochet Hook & Knitting Needle Roll
Project Link: n/a
Brief Description: Ive seen plenty of hook & needle rolls around here, but I dont think Ive ever made one, so when geekgirl1000100 had one on Pinterest for the Hookers Only Swap, I decided to give it a go. Except for the wonky fat quarters giving me fits, it was a pretty easy project!

Prompt:  February- Your Personality
Team: Textbook
Bonus Points: Meme Bonus, Swap Bonus, Brain Power
Project Name: Half Square Triangle Zipper Pouch #1
Project Link: n/a
Brief Description: I made this for geekgirl1000100 in the Hookers Only Swap, and it came from a free pattern on Craftsy. I just love zipper pouches, and I love tucking things into individual pouches, so I was very happy that this pattern actually made 2 pouches at one time, so I got to keep one. And, I also learned how to make something using just one half of a zipper (and how to swap out zipper pulls, but my zippers were two different types, so I couldnt do it).

Prompt:  Free-Range Crafting #2
Team: Textbook
Bonus Points: Meme Bonus
Project Name: Half Square Triangle Zipper Pouch #2
Project Link: n/a
Brief Description: I love zipper pouches, so I was VERY happy that I got to keep this one. I think Im going to use mine for my crochet stitch markers, which is what I made the one for geekgirl1000100 for (except the stitch markers were on backorder and didnt arrive in time so she just got the pouch Sad ). Plus, I really loved the batik fabric (and was pretty happy with the fabric combo, in general), so I was psyched that I got to keep something made using it.

Project Picture: -( The one for geekgirl1000100 is on the left mine is similar, but it has a different color zipper)

Sorry that this Nerdy News Update is so late!

I wouldn't want roler to think having a featured project isn't something we would celebrate!
