There is lots of help & lovely supportive people here to encourage you. Many of us learned watching youtube videos. The first large item I made was a giant rectangle granny afghan, the repeating pattern was not that hard to master Smiley.

Indeed!  It really isn't hard to learn.  I taught myself the basics with the Lion Brand "I Taught Myself Crochet" kit, then got advice off and on from a fellow Craftster, before discovering the joys of Youtube videos.  You really can do it!  It's really just how you combine about 5 different stitches. Cheesy
