My donation to society is the gift of crafting.  Bear with me, this is gonna be a long post.  I work for a fantastic company that encourages creativity and sharing new, fresh ideas.  My boss's boss's boss came to me and said "I would like you to spread your love of crafts to the masses"  I happily obliged.  Hence, craft night was born!

I have hosted 4 nights of crafts after hours in our conference rooms.  Everyone was invited, all skill levels encouraged and we had a blast.

Here are the 4 nights we've had so far:

The majority of these women have never even stepped foot inside a craft store let alone created anything with their own 2 hands.  I was so happy to get to spread my knowledge with them so they could make and do beautiful things.

We started night #1 with mason jar luminaries.  I brought all the supplies (thanks to my stash at home) and let everyone's creativity run wild.  Everyone loved it and were very impressed with themselves that they created such beauty.

(I'm the one holding the bag of Epsom salts)

Here's boss lady working hard

and the finished product:

Everyone was amazed that they were able to make something to be proud of in such a short time

Craft Night #2 was learning to crochet!  This came as a little bit of a struggle but everyone caught on and I was SO proud of them.  We made crochet coffee cup cozies.  The perfect stocking stuffer to put with a coffee gift card Smiley

The finished product:

Night #3 we went back to the basics and made glitter Christmas ornaments

The girls are very proud of their work (and with good reason)

Show-Off-Sheila (her new nickname) made AWESOME Harry Potter ones

These were the most fun in my opinion because it was instant gratification and the outcome was stunning

Night #4 was marble coffee mug night

Dipping coffee mugs into nail polish led to some amazing results
Here I am fueling my coffee addiction

Thanks for sticking with me to the end, nothing gives me greater pleasure than sharing my gift with others, I take for granted that not everyone sits at home all weekend and makes crafts, hopefully I've spawned some new craftsters (I told them all about it)

You have given these women a gift of creativity and joy!  I love the crafts you picked so that they could be successful!  I hope some of them will continue their journey into crafts for themselves, their family, their community!

Thank you for sharing this uplifting post!  You have been an inspiration to me as well...and, I am still working on my Frieda blanket! ha ha ha

Wow, that's awesome that your company is down with letting you do crafting nights and you put in all that effort to make it happen!  More businesses should do stuff like that; if nothing else, I'm sure it works wonders for employee morale/camaraderie.

I think I will speak for everyone here--WE ALL WANT TO WORK WHERE YOU WORK!!!

Just curious, does your employer contribute some funds to your crafts nights, or maybe supplies some snacks?

YES!  I work in the catering department and she is the VP of Food and Bev so we always have lovelies floating around!

My job is amazing, these women are so inspiring and wonderful, we joke around that now we work to fund our crafting habits Smiley

I would also like the add that this invitation was open to the men in the office as well, many of them were interested but no one participated the first round.  As we've had more craft nights, interest has piqued, i have a feeling we can lure some of them in to the next night Smiley
