I've never made a doll like this before, it's a bit messier than my tidiness usually allows. I enjoyed the challenge of putting something together that looked raggedy and asymmetrical, it was a good exercise in letting go.
For Ludi who is always a pleasure to craft for Smiley.

I tried tea staining for the first ever time, here is what I started out with. Some linen, vintage curtains, a piece of heavy old fabric with iron on embroidery pattern, lots of bits from swaps with other craftsterers.

Here it is all dirtied up. I'm not sure I quite got it right, the tea on it's own didn't seem to be staining things that much. I added in some green tea bags, mint leaves, sprigs of thyme and eventually a sprinkle of turmeric and some brown and gray acrylic paint. It made the kitchen smell very interesting, lol, and eventually did change the fabric just enough.

Here Miss Kitty is with her wee little witch friend (or fiend, whatever Wink ).

She is pretty small but still with some neat-o details like her hairy chin wart and pumpkin with leaf and curly vines. Her cloak is made of the same velvet as kitty's head and they both have loops on their backs so they can be hung up.

I sent them off in these fun fabric pouches, they are both lined with equally interesting fabric (also from swaps here!) and have black and white skull bead zipper pulls made of bone, oooh spooky!

I love how you flipped the script and made the crone the familiar, and the kitty the witch.

All the fabric chooses are just wonderful. Can't wait to see the embroidery pattern pop back up!

I had a hard time dying fabric too (i tried tea AND double coffee). Seems like it stains just fine on my favorite top!

I thought the witch familiar thing was funny too. Why not? Life is often upside down. Like I can't stain fabric if I try but wear white around the children for 2 minutes and it'll never be that colour again!
