What is weird about your shawl, Jennie? Texture of the yarn, color flow? It looks perfect.

It's not the shawl.  It's the yarn that's weird.  It's 4 strands of lace weight yarn, that are kinda just sitting next to one another, not spun together, so it splits constantly.  There's 4 strands of the same color for a bit, then one changes over to the new color, and later a second strand changes, etc, etc, till you have 4 of the new color.  So it creates an ombre effect that I've used before by combining multiple strands of yarn.  But the lack of twist is really annoying, and there is SO MUCH static with it.  The multiple strands is making the whole shawl feel spongy, but not in a good way.  I kinda wish I had gone up a hook size, compared to what the packaging recommended.  I think a bigger hook might make for a more drapey shawl.

If anyone is curious about trying the yarn, I saw a bunch of it on clearance today at my Joann's.  Which seems insane because I think it just came out like 3-4 months ago.  It wasn't clearanced all that low, about $5.37 a skein.  I paid $4 a skein when I bought it on sale.

I finished Anna's Shawl for our county fair. It wasn't as large as I wanted so I added a third skein and just continued the existing pattern. I also did some color splicing to make certain colors more prominent.

Name: Anna's Shawl
Pattern: Anna's Shawl by Jenny Galusha-Luna
Yarn: Lion's Brand Mandala yarn, Genie colorway

Oh gosh Kathy, that is lovely and no, the judge didn't have a clue. Perhaps the board of the fair needs a bit of direction on hiring evaluators that know something about what they are doing, sheesh. That's a beauty. The larger solid grey bit around the neckline is genius. Looks like a shawl collar almost, very well done.

Look what I did!
pattern

I plan on making a matching ear warmer and fingerless mitts with it!
I used 2 skeins of Lion brand Vanna White in rust color.  It measures 48 inches across the back, I can wear it as a shawl or as a slouchy scarf.
