Thanks for the mention, craftylittlemonkey! I think that may have actually been my first virus shawl, and now it's one of my favorite things to whip up (especially with self-striping yarns). I keep the chart permanently on my phone Smiley

(with bonus bubble tea...this purple one went to my mother-in-law!)

This challenge sounds like fun! Might have to do some stash busting Wink

Look what I won in last months challenge! So many good hookn' tools Smiley WOW!

I got:
thread scissors with their own little safety cover (I wonder is I can take these on the plane???)
pack of stitch markers
measuring tape
9 thread needles of various sizes
14 crochet hooks varying in size from 3.5-10 with rubber handles
sequin zipper bag (very reminiscent of a mermaids tail Wink)

Thanks so much Jennie. Prizes make this board even that much more fun. What a great incentive to join!

Those are awesome prizes, curiousfae! How exciting. Smiley

Also, amazing yarn choice, rhinoceroses. Clearly there are also benefits to choosing a heavier-weight yarn than I did.

Here's my update progress pic:

The last motif row (4 total rows) took me an entire movie. I'm not a speed crocheter, but I'm not at all slow either, but I picked a very slim sport weight, nearly sock weight, yarn.  Grin It feels so nice and drapey worked up, though. And it will mostly get used in office AC *lives in Texas* so the flowy-ness is actually quite nice. I'm happy so far, and can't wait to see how it blocks! I'm on my second of 3 balls now.

I just discovered this thread, and I just happened to have finished making my very first crochet shawl! Seredipity Grin

It's a pretty basic granny square shawl made with Caron Cakes- one of the Big Cakes. This fun orange and grey shawl took one skein.

I love the idea of challenges, I will have to see what pattern I can find for a uniquely shaped shawl.
