I tried sock yarn and it looked raggedy to me...plus, some sock yarn is meant to stripe and the long runs of the shawl just did not make for a nice pattern with the two I swatched.  I also tried a fuzzy yarn and it did not have the right stitch definition that I think makes this pattern pop.  I will be on the hunt tonight for more yarn to try...I can't believe with all of my stash that I won't be able to find something!  I have the pattern memorized and can't wait to get started.

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

Started my Virus shawl with Lion Brand Mandala yarn in Spirit:

It is what I had in stash and is a pretty variegated yarn that might work out. I am using a 3.5 mm hook.

Lovely colors, pottermouth!

I found a ball of yarn last night and started as well...if I get my laptop back from the shop, I will post tonight.  Thanks for the motivation, everyone!  This really is a lovely pattern with so many different yarns!

I discovered most of a ball of the same Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable in Petunia in my stash that I'd forgotten all about.  I bought it because I had made a pussyhat for a friend, and used some that Ant Bee sent me, but I was shy of finishing the hat by just a few rows, so had to buy another skein.  After finishing a full ball of the blue/green Dragonfly color, which was 5 full rounds of the pattern, I decided to do a round with the Petunia to break it up.  I really like the contrast, and the purple-pink and blue-green make one another pop.  I have 5 more balls of Dragonfly, but I may have to pick up another ball of Petunia in order to do another 2-3 contrast rounds as it gets bigger.  But not bad for using up stash!

Contemplating. I wanted to do shawls for the ladies in the fam for Christmas. Just not sure. Almost ready to take a break from embroidering. I tend to do stuff in spurts.

If you work with a worsted weight, it works up pretty fast.  Cheesy

I am using Crazy Zauberball yarn, which is normally a sock yarn, to make this scarf for a friend of mine who loves fall colors...I am using size F.
