I recently made this Australiana quilt (knee rug) for a distant uncle who lives in Canada. He turns 99 this year!!!
I found all this really great fabric at my local quilting store. I especially love the gum leaves that I used as the border.
I also had my first go at hand embroidery. As my sewing machine only has a few basic alphabet embroidery options which are quite small I thought I'd give this a go and make the letters large enough for a 99-year-old to read.

Thanks both of you.
I was so happy when I found so many different Australian themed fabrics. The first chain store I tried had nothing but then I tried this little independent store and it had so many beautiful fabrics!
