For a swap with another group, I designed a Maple Leaf paper pieced pattern.  The recipient wanted something to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday, said she liked abstract and unusual.  After sewing the leaf, I used a temporary adhesive to stick it to the background and then quilted the entire quilt.  I didn't applique the leaf so some of the edges are loose.

Wonderfully done! I'm sure it was appreciated.

WHAT??  you mean our Canadian Government wasted millions of dollars celebrating our 150th birthday in error  Shocked Roll Eyes

I'm well aware of the history of our fine country and was proud to celebrate the 150th year of confederation, even if others misunderstood.

For our American (and other) friends Wink.
We took a 2 week road trip to the east coast in celebration, drove Confederation bridge (ooh, scary), visited the Confederation gallery (amazing!) and saw a LOT of maple leaves. This one is the best though.
