I recently finished a sweater for my niece, and she loves it! So success!

This was worked from the top down, and was pretty easy to follow after I started my fourth attempt and figured out how to do the increases (not done as written). I finished the body portion, working as indicated in the pattern. I then added both button plackets and had my niece try on for size. I should have measured before I added the plackets, because it was 4.5 inches too short. So I frogged the plackets and added the length to the body before adding the plackets again. I had a whopping 9 inches of yarn left, so I barely made it!

This is supposed to be a long sleeved sweater, so I was going to buy more yarn. But then I figured that we live in Arizona, and it's hot here most of the year. So she doesn't need a long sleeved sweater, this would work great as is! She wants to wear it to school tomorrow, but we're under an excessive heat warning (may get to 111 tomorrow), so I convinced her she needs to wait.

The sweater has a cloud motif that is supposed to be crocheted within the sweater body. There's a chart to follow and notes where to start the cloud. I decided that instead of working as the pattern indicated, I'd rather make a cloud applique and attach it on three sides, keeping the top open to make a pocket.

After the fourth attempt seemed to be working, I was worried about the width of the sweater the whole time I worked on it. I felt like it was going to be too small, especially when comparing it to the width of my laptop.

Thankfully it fit her, and I'm glad that in the end she's so happy with it. I kind of want to make one for myself now Smiley

Oh, and here's a close up of the rainbow stripes.

This is lovely. And I really like the way you chose to make the cloud as a pocket instead of crocheting it into the body of the garment. So much nicer and practical too. Everyone needs a pocket for their cell phone  Wink

Lol. Thank you. It's not a real cell phone. Smiley It's some toy that has three songs loaded on it that she can listen to, but the batteries are dead. So she uses it to "talk" to her friends. It's pretty adorable.

Super cute! Look at her happy smile, she is obviously thrilled with her pretty new sweater. The cloud is wonderful.

My daughter has an old cell phone too, so old it's a flip phone, ha ha. Cuties.

Oh my goodness that picture is quintessential childhood right there. It's like you captured a little piece of it with this cardigan. Excellent work. Smiley

Beautifully done and the colors are so vividly vibrant; I agree that the cloud pocket was a great touch too.  You can never go wrong with Rainbow Dash/Brite couture!  Grin
