I was planning on making further changes to this one, but I needed to varnish it for an upcoming show and the varnish fixed much of what I was worried about.  The painting was originally painted for an invitational show at one of the area art museums.  Each artist was given a color from the beer scale (light beer to dark beer) and the work we produced had to be created using mostly our assigned color.  I'm sure you can gather which beer shade I was given....LOL!  I was thinking that after the show I might want to lighten up the foreground, but I've decided not to.  I kind of like the flat appearance.

I had multiple reference images to work from, but none of them had my model in this position so it took a lot of trial and error to get it all to work.

It's a 40" x 30" oil on canvas.

I think my favorite part is her hand.  It's also the part that went the quickest.

I am also pretty proud of these books!  I had a stack of cook books that I needed to make into medical books.  I think I managed to make them passable.  Then, of course, I always love to paint birds.

That is completely stunning! Shocked I love the slightly surreal appearance of the foreground and the way it contrasts with the incredible detail. of the young girl. She looks adorable!
