It's been a while since I've posted any new work. I've done a couple of things.

First off, I did this pillow for coycasket in the Femininity and Diversity Swap. I also did a TM Patch (her first!) but I don't have a good pic of that.

If you ever think you can't make a fantastic piece without knowing a bunch of stitches...this piece was done with about 95% backstitch. Only other stitches that might have been used (my mind is like cheesecloth) are French knots and stem stitch. The content (a naked person) was well outside of my normal comfort zone of what I should be stitching; so it was sort of a guilty pleasure stitching on the train. Grin

Now some TM patches!

This one was made for a horoscope theme. My sign is Cancer, so I decided to do that. I found this quote and loved it; but decided to add on the constellation over it. The constellation portion is done in glow in the dark thread! The fabric I chose I thought was appropriate. The water backing and the red for ruby, Cancer's birthstone. I apologize if the colors are super bright. I couldn't seem to tone them down for some reason.

This theme was monochrome. I found a kinda simple mandala and decided to use multiple colors and as many stitches as I could. In the end I used five different colors of red and I think it was eleven different stitches. It might have been more. I don't remember. I should have written it down! In the end, I really love how it turned out. Except the border. I wish I had done something different with the border. I found it very distracting.

This is way brighter that is actually is. The first pic is more indicative of the colors.

My other partner asked for a patch using the "Nevertheless, she persisted" quote. I've seen a lot of work using this quote lately. I wanted to do something a little different. The figure in the middle is a tracing of the statue of the Fearless Girl that faces the huge bull in NYC. The quote it written in my handwriting. I really love how this one turned out.

Detail of edging. I went with a light pink and made circles (kind of like the roses on the fabric) all around the edges.

The last patch (for now) is based on the theme "MacKenzie-Childs." Now I had seen this designer before; but since it's not really my thing, I wasn't super familiar with it. While looking through images, I found a pillow that went for a whopping $300+!!  Shocked I kinda liked the look of it, so I decided to do something similar. It was my first time doing ribbon flowers. I also added a layer of material to get the red border. The border was stitched using black ONLY on black areas. Leaves were done in a fishbone stitch.

Close up

EDITED TO ADD close up pic of the Monochrome TM patch.

Excellent assortment of pillows and patches!  I like the "Practice Radical Self Love" and ribbon flowers pillows the best out of the group, but they're all impressive.

Oh these are all so lovely.  I adore the Nevertheless She Persisted one with the outline of the Fearless Girl. I would like to make one like that myself.  And your ribbon poppies are similarly inspiring.  What lucky swap partners you have.
