My DIL started working with a women's shelter because of GISHWHES! It's really rewarding to be helping them out in conjunction with local food vendors. We take a delivery to them every Thursday, and we just love doing it!  There are 64 ladies in the shelter, and they don't have much. Many of them show up with the clothes on their back. They are in great need of personal care items, which we have been trying to round up for them.

In the meantime, I'm working on making these zippered pouches, and possibly some drawstring bags for them to put some of their personal items into. If any of you lovely crafters out there would like to donate zippers, or completed bags, send me a PM! We'd love the help! Here are the bags I've done so far:

I found the tutorial for them on here years ago, but have no idea where, so here's a link to instructions that I posted in the Nerd Games thread:

These are fantastic and for a fantastic cause. Love the fabrics you have used so far. I can't get into a sewing project right now but I will be sending you some zippers!

Awesome! And thanks to you and your DIL for your good works! What are the zipper requirements? I can dig through my stash for those that will work.

It's great that you and your Daughter-in-Law are helping out those ladies like this and adding a crafty touch while you do it to boot!
