Yay! They look great where you placed them  Cheesy

I understand about not wanting to arouse suspicion when out abandoning these guys. I have a love/hate relationship with that part of this adventure. I love doing it, but get so nervous about someone confronting me or catching me at it  Roll Eyes I usually just try to go early in the day when less people are out, or just try to time it so no one is around.

Right?  Then I second guess my reasoning because I think it would be even more suspicious if someone did catch me in the act of abandoning stuff at some ungodly hour when normal people are still asleep  Tongue

I need to figure out one last spot for the fabulous christmas zebra!

Haha, when I say early, I mean "before the general lunch hour". Not like before the sun is up  Cheesy

WiccadWitch, the abandoned artwork you sent is gorgeous!
xxx

Thank you so much!

This was my first experience abandoning art, it's kind of weird, when I was abandoning I almost felt like I was doing something wrong ( how strange is that...I guess because I bad to be kind of sneaky about it). When I saw that the first one had been taken I was stupidly excited Grin

I am so mad at myself - I have the last couple to abandon and meant to do it when walking the dog and forgot them each time!

I went on an abandoning spree this weekend. We hit my absolute favorite fine art craft fair on Saturday at Peter's Valley. I have to admit that the very first piece I distributed I actually did not abandon at all.

I was in a lovely booth of an artist displaying dyed fabric wall hangings enjoying her work when a woman came in an gave the artist a heart-shaped stone as a token of random kindness. "You obviously love what you do," she said, and explained that she has given these rocks out all over the world to people she feels moved to offer them to. I was loving the exchange and was so honored to have witnessed it, but I never expected the woman to offer me a stone as well, just for being in the booth! I immediately thought of alteredmommy's canvases tucked away in my purse and offered one to the woman. The spirit of randomly brightening someone's day was the same as her mission, so I thought it was appropriate, and she agreed! Her friend snapped a picture of us commemorating our exchange so that I could share it here with all of you. It was a wonderfully serendipitous moment that I'll always remember. Smiley

Yes, I am gigantically pregnant, lol.

Anyway...on a little high from the interaction with a fellow kindness "guerrilla," I abandoned another canvas on a nearby bench. It was gone by the time we did a second round of the booths.

Then on Sunday, we hit the city and I dropped the remaining three canvases. It's amazing how in the middle of such a busy place, you can totally go unnoticed, haha.

First, we found this cool stoop advertising a basement fallout shelter. Seemed like a good spot:

Then, a cool sculpture outside an office building:

And inside an abandoned box on a light post at a busy cross-walk:

Unfortunately, I did not walk past these spots again to see if they were still there before we headed back to Jersey. Hopefully they all found wonderful loving homes. Smiley

Thank you alteredmommy for an awesome swap, and thank you sheepBlue for the opportunity to be a part of such an awesome movement!! Cheesy

I LOVE that you exchanged art with this kindred soul Abee!  and I love her idea, something to plan for in the future I'd say Smiley  Congratulations too partner!

I was going to comment before that I have no idea what secret things I wrote on the little canvas's (I think you are right about "be in the now" though) I was just writing fast on a whole bunch of pieces.  Its all nice things though I promise.  Not my usual sarcastic sweariness haha

I have to spend a couple of days in the city with my Dad who is having surgery so will abandon your last 2 mandelas then.  A hospital seems like a great place for a little art happiness sharing!
