I tried to write a pattern, I really tried. As you can see I am just no good at all at repeating anything exactly, lol.

After the multi-coloured ones I started a series of white bottomed rainbow caps.

The trim is all different, there's yarn grass around the bottoms of most, some teeny flower beads, seed beads, flowers and leaves of crochet, felt, buttons.

I got a little carried away  Roll Eyes. We'll have to choose some favourites and then give a few of them away.

Those are ridiculously cute! Love the first one especially, or maybe that's just because I can see the most detail. In any case, your kiddos are lucky to have you for a mom  Cheesy

Adorable! The blue base with the raspberry roof is so sweet!

I just love how they are all different. I don't think my brain works that way. What a great job!

Thanks gals! The shape starts to form after the first couple of rows, I go with it or frog and try something different until it looks reasonably mushroomy. The yarn calls for a 5.5 hook and I'm using 3.5 so the stitches are tight enough to stay stiff. There are pipe cleaners hooked in at the base and around the door frames for added stability. I was thinking of spraying them with some starch but so far they seem ok without it. My favourites are the ones with the crocheted leaves and buttons, maybe I like the green top with the chimney best but the purple lid has a frilly edge that I think turned out pretty good too. Hard to choose!

They are lovely!
I like how they all have their own character.

Seriously cute!  I have to ask, what are they for?  Fairy gardens?  Homes for pet mice?  Toys for the kids dolls to live in?  (I promise I don't intend this question meanly! I'm just curious what got you making them.)  Rocks.

Oh Jennie, believe me, I asked myself that very same question each time I started another one, ha!
The story (you may be sorry you asked, lol):
I have a very large stash of fulled sweaters, I can't seem to resist the ugly ones at the thrift store. I figure no one will ever wear them and it seems such a waste to have all that natural fiber languishing on the racks so I bring them home and shrink them in the wash. I've been thinking about making giant beanbag cushions for the kids for reading out of that stash to use it up. I'm trying to manage the crafting space a bit better by making some actual space in the space, right now it is a solid mass of supplies, ugh. When I got the bins out though I just loved touching all that fiber so much that I started dreaming up other ideas. The girl has a very nice Waldorf style felted playmat that gave me an idea of making another stitched up out of the wool fabric. Then I looked up inspiration ideas online and saw all the cute things and one thing led to another and WOW mushroom habitats to go on the mat. And another mat for our friend's new baby (if I get started now it will be finished in time for him to play with it, ha ha!). And another mat to make with a friend on our crafternoon date this Friday. And I wanted to share a pattern here but I failed utterly at creating something repeatable. Oh well. I can abandon some of them around town if we can't seem to find enough children to gift the over flow to.

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

These are too much! If I were a gnome, I'd totally move in one of the homes...probably the orange one. Very sweet, clm!

These  are so cute and it's cool if you don't  have a  pattern. Thanks for sharing these little adorable  houses.

Those are so stinking cute! I love how they all turned out slightly different. I tend to have that problem too, even if I do follow a pattern.

So cute!  I love the variety.  I'm imagining a whole community of Smurfs taking up residence in this village!

Thanks all! And thanks Jennie for reading that rambly reply. That is how so many of my crafting efforts come about, completely unrelated to whatever I started to do, ha ha!
