Have you ever had that moment when you are drawing or crafting along and then all of a sudden think all your talent is gone? It's like when you are following a pattern and then all of a sudden you have NO idea what they just did (I sew a lot and this happens to me all the time). Well, Carl did that to me with ATCs. I decided to render him in Copic Markers like I normally do and for some reason everything was going wrong with it.
I decided to put that aside and work it out in pencil. Still it was wrong but in another way.  Tongue  In the end I sent both cards and let it up to the person I claimed to decide which to keep. The left is the Copic, right is pencil. The top picture is before I cut them down to ATC size.

I will attempt him again when I think I can handle the disappointment.  Tongue

I prefer the pencil version, but I agree that they're both fine.  I'd recognize the pair as Walking Dead Carl without you telling me who it was beforehand.

It's normal to doubt yourself and your abilities from time-to-time; nearly everyone does.  I just tell myself that, "You've felt this way before and things came out okay; they'll probably turn out fine this time too."

They both look great!

So here's my thoughts on this... You form an idea in your mind. You think to yourself, I must make this! So you start creating your idea, only to have it not look like what your original idea looked like. You feel it looks horrible. Everyone else gushes about how great it is, and you think everyone is nuts. You don't look at your newly created piece for a month or two, then see a picture of it, or even the actual piece. And 9 times out of 10, you'll realize it was never bad to begin with, you just needed time to forget your original vision.

I think this will be one of those times. Smiley

We are our own worst critics and sometimes you are too close to something to see it clearly. So many times I have hated something when I first finish and then when I go back and look at pictures later I realize it was actually pretty good. I don't know who Carl is but these look pretty good to me, I agree that I like the one on the right better. I think when you look back on these later with fresh eyes you will see the good. Smiley

You'd be right! I LOVE them. This would have to be a real "Sophie's Choice" if I had to pick a fave.
