I wanted to try Butterick 6168 with some inexpensive woven cotton before cutting fabric I cared about. BUT just in case it did work out, I wanted something I might actually care to wear. Enter the bright blue printed gingham and not to Dorothy from Wizard of Oz.

A close up of the bodice/waist details.

I added the eyelet lace just to make it that much more Dorothy. It did turn out wearable-enough for funsies. I am on the lookout for a small, inexpensive (i.e. 2nd-hand) wicker purse and small black plush pup for possible costumery. And will work on figuring out some cheap and comfy sparkly red shoes.

FUNNY THING: I don't have a dress form, but I do have a small mens torso mannequin, a sock-stuffed bra, an empty propane tank, and a small occasional table!

How clever to use a wearable fabric for your muslin, very lucky it turned out so well too. Your mannequin is such a great idea, I will have to look out for a torso to alter. (That just does not sound right)

Thanks! I was going to have to buy material anyway and I had a coupon, so it just seemed like it was worth it to try. Smiley I was given the mannequin for Halloween projects, so... yeah it's probably going to get realllllllll "altered" eventually. Shocked

Pretty dress! The fabric choice certainly does make it a Dorothy all your own! I love your dress form too! Hilarious and creative!

I love it! A wearable muslin--that's the dream! Cheesy (me, I can't even wear my final creations sometimes lol...possibly because the skip the muslin phase too often!)

Thanks! It's only semi wearable, because I didn't yet have my invisible zipper foot and had to order it and just used a cording foot instead, but meh. It's in the back, so I can't seem it. Wink
