I made this antique typewriter key-inspired bag to go with a dress I'm making from a Tim Holtz cotton print with all kinds of antique typewriter imagery on it. I decided to try to make it using only materials from my stash... and I succeeded!

The front is two kinds of vinyl, silver and a perforated black. I used craft paint that I mixed up to make the light ivory letter T. I used a stencil from Contact Paper. The back is just the silver vinyl.

The sides and strap are home dec fabric left over from a decade's old project, the zipper was in my grandmother's sewing supplies when I inherited them, and the hardware was harvested off straps on old collapsible camping chairs. WOO!

I'm not especially tickled with how the side came out and would probably try something different should I decide to make another, but it's really for what is essentially a costume, so I'm OK with it. It's not lined at all, either.  Tongue

I love when a project comes together from stash.  It's very cute, and I can't wait to see the dress it goes with!

Thanks y'all!

I had to special order an invisible zipper foot to finish the dress and I get to go pick it up today!

Thanks everyone! I just finished installing the invisible zipper on the dress... so I am taking a mental health break for a little bit. Ahem. Should be done in the next few days... it's pretty much all hand-finishing left. Sigh.

Cheesy

Yes.
