The owner of my local game shop asked if I could make some bags for him to give out as prizes at his next Pokemon tournament. He specified that he wanted "deck box bags": drawstring bags large enough to hold a standard sized deck box with enough room for counters and coins. I told him that I could as soon as I headed to JoAnn Fabrics (it's five minutes from his shop).
So a trip to JoAnn's and a few hours later and I had five bags for him. Yes, he asked for four but I made an extra for him because he LOVES Pokemon, especially Pikachu. Smiley

The bags together:

Close-up of one (looks nicer off my red couch):

Doctor Who bag:

A friend saw the deck bags at the LGS and asked if I could custom make one for him. He wanted it tall enough to fit his EDH deck box. Since EDH boxes hold 100 cards and have a compartment in the bottom for storing dice, they're a bit bigger/taller than a standard deck box, which holds 60 cards, which means I had to modify the pattern. I realize the Tardis print is upside-down but it's right-side up on the other side: the bag is cut on a fold so that there's not a seam along the bottom to allow the box to sit flat.

Thread catcher:

The first bag I made, I goofed in my math and accidentally made it too short to add a drawstring. So instead of jury-rigging it to make it tall enough, I decided I would use it as a thread catcher since I needed one anyway.

Thanks Smiley
He's always giving my husband and I discounts on Magic: The Gathering cards so I figured it was only fair to help him out. Apparently there have been people asking about them so I may make more.

They look very professional. I never knew there was such a thing, I'll have to make some for the kids to put their deck boxes in.

Thanks y'all Kiss

Sarasmile, I'd LOVE some MtG fabric. The only prints I've found were on Spoonflower and it's only the mana symbols.

CLM, I'd never heard of a deck bag either, just dice bags. He said he wanted players to have somewhere to store their booster pack prizes since the deck boxes only have enough room for the decks.

I've considered getting a yard from Spoonflower to make a couple small throw pillows for my couch. But the hubs says throw pillows are silly Roll Eyes

If people have been asking about them, what about asking if you can sell some on consignment or something?  Or what about taking custom orders?

You are inspiring me... it's been awhile since I played Magic, or role playing in general, and have been feeling the yen.  Now I want to make a deck bag!

Anything to help my kids stay organized, lol. You'd think the deck boxes and sleeves would do it but no, I find their pokemon stuff all over the place. I have a confiscate rule, you leave it laying around and it's mine. Those cards are so special and costy though, I would prefer not to be chucking them in the recycler so those children need more help keeping them where they belong.
I have some minecraft fabric from a spoonflower coupon years ago, is that too much of a cross-over? I don't know much about any of that stuff.

He actually asked if I'd like to do that. And I'm looking into more Pokemon fabrics on fabric.com. That website is SO awesome. They have some of the same fabrics that JoAnn's has for cheaper.

If they like Minecraft, go for it, CLM! Cheesy
