I'm on a tear updating our guest room and my latest edition are these lamps I made from a couple of vintage thermoses.

The two thermoses are slightly different sizes, but that doesn't bother me. I did try to make sure that the shades ended up at the same height, though.

I really need to get around to investing in some reflectors for taking photos in the house... I tried all kinds of variations, but just couldn't get a good one of them in place.  Undecided  The next project in there is new window shades!

Speaking of "shades," that lampshades are from a big box store; I glued clearance trim to the bottom for some flair.

I posted a link to the original, wonderful tutorial I found via pinterest and described the changes I made to that to suit my situation on my blog:

cute!
I love the comforter fabric and the wallhanging above the bed.  What a nice place to stay for a bit!

Thanks all!

Both are Ikea fabrics. The wall hanging is actually a window shade that I closed to try to get rid of the back-lighting problem for the photo. Making a new one is the next project for the room as it no longer works decor-wise. I love that material, though! If it fits, maybe I'll put it on the studio window for now.

Your guest room is such a nifty space. You may find yourself at risk of visitors overstaying their welcome, who would ever want to leave?

Those are really neat lamps; I've never seen anybody recycle thermoses into anything until now, and that was a great idea!

I think The ManFlesh & I have determined a 4-day limit is what works best for us.

I can not take credit for the idea, props to all the folks who posted theirs on the internet so others could share them on pinterest.
