My parents just adopted two 15 month old beagles. Two years ago, they lost their first beagle, Boomer. Knowing my dad likes beagles, I decided to make him some beagle art for Father's Day.

The beagle itself is 6"x4". I finally decided on putting it in a frame rather than making it into a hoopla. Since it's going to AZ to AK, I'm sending it as is, and my mom will buy and put it into a frame for me so that the glass doesn't break during shipping.

Before I decided on framing it, I had to decide what background color to use. My dads favorite color is red, so first I considered using that.

I felt like it kept the small bits of red on the beagle itself (the collar and heart) from popping, so I put it against the oatmeal color pictured above.

Since the beagle is supposed to be sniffing, I used some flower shaped buttons to spice it up a little. A side note, the little purple star is from my grandmother's collection that I inherited. She passed away last November, and since it was my dads mother, I thought it would be nice to include it in with the flowers.

I'll get it in the mail tomorrow. Hopefully it arrives before Father's Day!

This is simply adorable as is, but with the stories behind it it's downright beautiful.

My sister has a beagle and she is obsessed. She would be nuts about this. Your felt work is always so clean and perfect. Every tiny stitch! I love it. This is adorable.

That's a thoughtful canine-themed gift for your father and it looks great.  Picking out a good, contrasting background color for a figure that has several different colors itself is always tricky, but I think you made a fine choice.  I like those little flower button accents too!
