I whipped up a couple quilted coasters for our guest room to protect the new bedside tables.

I was tickled to use all materials from stash, including some pieced together cotton batting. I used two layers of the batting with a layer of PUL in the center.

Thanks! Polyurethane Laminate, I guess that it's used as an insert for cloth diapers sometimes.

Those fabrics together are such a terrific pairing, ha ha, I love it! They turned out so neat looking, yay you and the bias binding perfection. The pieced together batting? Nobody will ever know but you, awesome waste not want not labour of love.

Thanks! Me, too. They also make it in a blue colorway that is pretty charming as well.

Thanks! And the bias binding where it joins is kind of messy, but it's just such a tight circle! And since they are for me and a utilitarian item, I just let myself accept them as they are.  Roll Eyes

A super cute quick project!

Thanks! Polyurethane Laminate, I guess that it's used as an insert for cloth diapers sometimes.

PUL is actually used to for the outside layer of cloth diapers, or for the covers only. It's a moisture barrier, not absorbent, and should keep the moisture from going right through your coasters and onto the furniture! I never thought to add it to coasters, but it totally makes sense.

HA! This shows how little I know about diapers! I knew PUL was a moisture barrier and not absorbent, but didn't think that would mean it wasn't the insert part of diapers.  Shocked I have no idea what the parts of a diaper are! LOL.

Anyhoo, that is exactly why I put it in the middle with absorbent cotton batting between it and the outer fabric!
