This dslite case was posted here in 2006 and I'm pretty sure I started one right away but it sat in my stash of UFOs for years and years waiting for a lining which I have accepted I am never going to give it, lol.

It's been so long I don't even remember what I was making this for. We are not gamers and I don't really know anybody who is and might appreciate this. I just thought it looked cool. I like nostalgia, what can I say?

See, no lining. I should stop being so neglectful and just glue some felt in there already.

I remember when my dad surprised us with our very first NES system for Christmas. It came with "Super Mario Brothers" and "Duck Hunt" and it had that one gun that came with it. I think you did a great job. I've been seeing kids walking around with prints of those remote controls on their shirts now so you were ahead of the curve here, because those are cool again now (I think, I'm too old to actually know what's cool anymore).

I am definitely too old to remember what's cool, even with 3 kids trying to be it. Ugh, the music! I sound like my parents every day, lol, something I'm sure we all swore we would never, ever do Cheesy.

The more I look at this, the more it bugs me there isn't a lining.

Today, my husband and I were at the doctor and the local news was on. I pointed to the TV and said to him "you know how I can tell we are getting older? When I was young, news casters were adults. Now they all look like teenagers."

He then looked at me and said "You know how I know? We're voluntarily sitting in a doctor's office."  Shocked Well played hubby, well played. Sorry, I didn't mean to deviate, I just saw this when I was looking at recent posts and it was a blast from the past. Thank you for sharing :-)

Edit: And yes, the music is truly awful. LOL!

Very cool retro design for a Nintendo DS holder/case.  You captured the look of the classic controller very well and I instantly recognized what it was from the small thumbnail image on Craftster's main page.

I still have my NES (not that I'd actually be able to FIND it, but I know it's buried under my junk somewhere); it's the newer, top-loading model though, not the original front-loading version (with the top-loader, you don't have to blow into your cartridges and resort to other obscure voodoo rituals in order to get your NES carts to boot).  I do have at least one of the old original controllers (the newer ones, which were based on the SNES controllers, have rounded, rather than rectangular, corners, and are much more ergonomic and comfortable to hold).  Ah, it's just easier to show you a picture:

The power of nostalgia, eh? Even if it wasn't something you personally loved and were attracted to at the time the feeling of familiarity is nearly as good as one of genuine pleasure. Like that band, Flock of Seagulls, lol. I'm not sure I ever really liked them but whenever I hear a song of theirs now I happily sing along like it's one of my faves Cheesy.
