I've just come across this beautiful block of cats with entwined tails.

I couldn't find a pattern free or for sale for that one but did find a link here for a free pattern for a full sized quilt:
https://stoffogstrikk.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/koolkatskwilt_1.pdf

I'd like to make a cushion cover for my cat loving Auntie, I'm hoping I can figure it out from that quilt pattern.

The tails part are similar to the "snail's trail" block if you are familiar with that, if not there's a free pattern on craftsy here:

Very cute! I like the top one with the half square triangles in the corners!

Oohh very nice. It's generally not too difficult to figure out a pattern from this kind of thing. Transfer it to graph paper. (I tend to just tape the paper over the computer screen, works as a good impromptu light box. Cut out all the pieces and add seam allowance. The tricky part is figuring out how to get the most out of your fabric, and the sewing sequence.

I am with Mare Mare I prefer the top one with cats in a definite block, the other one is too busy for my tastes.

Hmmm.  I did a Google image search for the block; looks like it was published by a magazine as a free pattern a goodly while ago and it doesn't look like original page is about any more.  If you let me know the target size of the block that you'd like, I could probably doodle something up in Inkscape for you no trouble.  Smiley

Ooh, that would be great, thank you!
I agree the second one is very busy. I think the design stands out much more in the first photo. The corners are nice too, that might look to empty just plain.

Joining the party a little later here, but that tutorial doesnt seem to have instructions for what to cut for the background fabric. Did I miss something? I really want to make it, though, and might be able to figure it out.

I need to make at least one of these.
They will make great quilts for Project Linus, for sure.   Smiley
