I train roller derby here in Kotka (shoutout to Kotham City Rollers, whoop!). Apparently (correct me if I'm wrong), the black plastic parts in knee pads are frowned upon by the people who rent us the spaces we train in. So to cover up the plastic bits some of our team mates had made their knee pads so much prettier than they first were. So I'm at the moment thinking of MAYBE putting something on mine (haven't had an idea yet), but Rsvilli (player number 314) loves all things rainbow so I immediately got an idea for her when I heard about this cover up-business. I bought the yarn in Helsinki at Lankamaailma, it is named Ville. These took a few hours since I had never done anything like this before. I used the 3,5mm needles and made a rectangular shape.

Very cool and colorful way to spruce up protective gear.  Given their function, how well do you think the yarn will hold up to abrasions over time?

These get Rainbow Dash's seal of approval!

These are really, really cool! Our derby league has a learn to knit class as a fundraiser and I think this would be a perfect thing to learn to make! ^____^

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

Thank you all! Smiley

Apparently the woollen ones may hold up a tad longer than those made with regular cotton socks. I have no idea how they will actually last against wear and tear. Time will tell! But someone in our derby group had put an old wool sock on their protective gear and it has held up nicely for a few months. We'll see Cheesy
