have been cleaning out Dad's house. Found this. I have not come across it in years!!

Mom made it for my brother in 1962. He was two.
Just old burlap for the base, it is our actual neighborhood in Sunderland Vermont, called the Burough.
Ours was the red house, the larger farmhouse was across the street where those neighbors were so dear, they became Uncle Hap and Aunt Hazel immediately.
Mom even made Pennock's store, at the end of our little dead end dirt road.

Falling apart, so I am gonna burn it in the back yard, with love.

I painfully love this.

Serious props to all the ladies and gents who have gone before, without the Interwebs and Pinning to show them the way.

Much respect.

I love it! How absolutely ingenious, the creativity, AAAHHH Amazing!
I too burn things lovingly or bury them at the cottage under gramma's tree. I might be tempted to flatten some of those building and add them to journal pages though. And the fabric, that would make such a great addition to fiber art projects... But I am a hoarder of scraps and sentiment Wink.

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

Very cool and your mum obviously spent a lot of time making those little model buildings--it's amazing they've survived this long!

I'm with craftylittlemonkey: I can see not keeping them all, but you might want to flatten one or two and save them, rather than burning them--once they're ashes, they're gone forever.  I'm a horrific hoarder though, so my advice on what to keep and what not to can't be trusted.  Wink

how sweet!  I cringe at the thought of burning them, but you gotta move on!

Do you still have these little houses? I would be more than happy to send you some money for postage if you would send them to me. Thanks!

You could make a memory  inside a frame.  I know they have them. I have one with my parents & little things they like. Us 3 kids pics, their 50 Anniversary, couple of things my Mom made, she was a sewer too. So that's just an idea. I wouldn't burn it either, but I'm a hoarder too.
