I made a stitched moth a while ago and wanted to try it again.

Stalking for a recent swap I saw some fabric moths pinned so hey, perfect timing!

I used fabric from my stash, wire, embroidery thread, felt, glass beads for eyes, and a bit of fiberfil.
Here are the fabric pieces laid out:

The legs were difficult to wrap with thread, maybe there's a way to do it before attaching to the body. I'll try again one of these days.

I would never touch a real bug like this, even looking at the picture makes me a little squeamish, ugh!

It's pretty big, a hand span at least.

Wow this looks great, I'm a bit squeamish too, but this looks fun. Maybe for the wire try spraying it with a spray glue or 505 spray so the thread sticks down right away and doesn't slip or move

It was ok to wrap in that sense, it was just super awkward to hold it steady. The leg wires are threaded through the body so keeping an equal length was tricky & once there were more than one set of legs plus the antenna it was a complete tangle.
Maybe the ones I've seen photos of are bigger, that might solve a few construction problems.

Thank you! It was fiddly but not difficult. I hope somebody will make one & show it off here. I left a lot of room for improvement.
