So, I have been working on this little lab for quite a while. TheMistressT's honey wrote a novel called Dr. Potter's Medicine Show, many of you have heard about it. Well, I freaking loved it!  And this is an homage to it. My very own fan art! And I'm ridiculously proud of it, so you'll have to put up with some "proud parent" pics. Sorry, not sorry.  Wink

Here's the finished product:

As you can see, as the project progressed, I moved things around...

Ok, so back to the completed lab. Let me show you around (she said with pride)!

Here's Dr. Hedwith's worktable. He's been making some notes in this alchemy book. There's a lantern for a little extra light, a scale for precise measurement of nasty bits, and a mortar and pestle for grinding said nasty bits. There's a handy syringe, waiting on just the right victim patient, and a large bottle of green mystery stuff on the floor.  I'm a big fan of the fancy clock on the wall and the esoteric hand, too.

Oops, one of Dr. Hedwith's patients who didn't make it. Like all good scientists, he's going to lop the head off and keep it for future study.

Ah. lots of juicy bits! A jar of eyes, and a jar of bones. (Ingredients for experiments, or souvenirs?) I wonder what he's got locked up in that little box that Mr. Skull is resting upon? Lots of potions and icky concoctions, and lots of books, too. Never let it be said that Dr. Hedwith is not a learned man! Candles, scissors, a test tube rack. The mouse who lives under the bookshelf has made an appearance for a photo op.

There's a bureau and an apothecary chest in the corner, just beneath an interesting alchemical chart. The good doctor is letting a little mail pile up. I wonder if any of it is from Lyman?

And, of course, this is where he keeps the "big guns":

Yes, I'm pretty tickled that the drawers open.  Cheesy

Another little shelf of potions and another interesting box, along with some more alchemical reference material.

And the reason for the lab in the first place - the dangerously addictive Chock-A-Saw Sagwa Tonic. Here's a case ready to be delivered to Dr. Potter.

On the outside of the side walls:

The top:

And the end credits (you made it through the whole thing, thank you)!

I made this just for me, and I am pretty excited about it!

Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

Special thanks to craftylittlemonkey for her contributions to the cause, and for lots of crafty support from TheMistressT, Gozer, Chr1stchan, and the rest of the Nerd Games crew!

This is beyond incredible! All the detail work is impressive. You didn't neglect a single millimeter of this thing. I have to say those syringes are amount my favorite things. They look so diabolical.
You did a phenomenal job and I'm so glad you are keeping this for yourself. You deserve something this cool!

This absolutely ROCKS and you have sooooo many amazing details in there!  Each little bit is so well done and the overall effect is fantastic!!  Your tiny flasks fit in perfectly, and there's a great sense of creepy atmosphere about the whole thing.  Very, very well done, and I'm glad you get to keep it and continue appreciating the fruits of your hard work!

Ack! Why are all my pics sideways?!?  Shocked

Thanks for the kind words, guys!

The brick is actually textured vinyl I bought at a yard sale, and the tile is scrapbook paper.

Well, I am practically speechless! And I have looked through the whole thing closely and TWICE! The first time with Eric who was super impressed and tickled. And honored, too!  WOW! I knew that you were going to have some kick-a details, but jumpin' jiminy your details have detailed details! Dr Hedwith, that jerk, does not deserve such a cool lab, not one bit! (and he's going to get a less cool lab here in the next several days - ahem)

How big is the inside of your shadow box? I know how teensy weensy some of your pieces are but the fact that you have so dang many of them is throwing off my understanding of scale, I think.

ACK! This ROCKS! YOU rock!

Thanks! I'm tickled that the author enjoyed it! Many thanks to him for the enjoyable read!

And you're right, Dr. Hedwith is an a-hole. But the book is great, and deserves awesome fan art! (And yes, I realize I'm tooting my own horn a bit here, but I really really like it!)

The box is 5x7x3. Should have stuck a penny in there for scale.
