GALLERY! https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=451993.0

NOTICE: Due to issues the past few rounds with people who hadn’t read this entire post, we are now asking a few additional questions in the questionnaire. I will be hiding a few “Easter Eggs” throughout this post and correct answers to the questions will be required in order to be accepted in the swap.

This is a LONG swap.

This cannot be your first Craftster swap; no exceptions.

To minimize flakers and keep everyone involved in the swap, good communication is a requirement. You must post in the gallery once every two weeks. Please think about this before signing up, this is a long swap and participants put months of effort into it. The past two rounds I've had a lot of complaints about participants disappearing until last send outs. What makes this swap so much fun is seeing your LV experience new ways of life, new locations, and making new friends. So frequent posts in the gallery and communication with your partner is a swap REQUIREMENT.

We reserve the right to refuse anyone. If you have swap feedback that shows a history of incomplete swaps, late sending, ill-communication, lack of tracking #'s, etc., we may refuse you. We want this to be a flake-free swap!

*Participants who have sent more than two weeks late in previous little visitor swaps may not join this round.

Swap name: Traveling Little Visitor Swap Round 25

The state mammal of Alaska is the Moose

Details of swap:

You will send a Little Visitor (LV) to your partner by April 5th.  You can send an optional biography (likes/dislikes/personality traits) if you would like to.

Here is a sample BIO from the one of the previous rounds:

You should work on finding/crafting/choosing your LV as soon as you are approved for the swap, since the send-outs are about a week after partners are matched up.

Post a photo of your LV in the thread.

Once you are accepted into the swap you must post in the gallery frequently and communicate with your partner regularly until the end of the swap. If you are going to be away please let the organizers AND your partner know.

Once you receive your LV, show them around! You should visit at least 10 different areas/parts of town/activities so that they can get the real experience of your community.

You will be required to send at least 15 printed pictures in a scrapbook/journal type thing. Shutterfly (or similar) scrapbooks are great but please plan ahead so they arrive in time.

You are also required to send at least 4 souvenirs/ mementos from the LVs trip. The souvenirs can be crafted, bought, or both. Try to send souvenirs that are unique to your area!

Send your LV home by September 15 2017. It is a long time for the swap to go on, but we want to give the LVs as many excursions as possible!

IF YOU ARE MAILING WITHIN YOUR OWN COUNTRY, YOU MUST GET A TRACKING NUMBER when you send your own LV and when you send your partner's LV back home! If you’re mailing internationally, you MUST KEEP YOUR RECEIPT! And we require a picture or scan of the postal receipts so we can verify the date that you sent, and that you did in fact mail your LV to your partner.

Here are some links to recent galleries:

Round 24:

Round 23:

Round 22:

Round 21:

To Reiterate:
* Post a photo of your LV in the thread
* Send your LV to your partner by April 5th 2017
* Provide proof of mailing to your partner and the organizer
* Take your LV around town and show them the sights!
* Keep your LV clean and undamaged - if something happens please check with your LV's "parent" before repairing or running them through the washing machine
* Post photos of your adventures in the gallery once every 2 weeks minimum
* Communicate with your partner often
* Make the scrapbook/journal and make or buy some souvenirs for the LV to remember its trip by.
* Mail the LV, the scrapbook/journal, and the souvenirs back to your partner by September 15th 2017
* Contact organizers when you send/receive - you MUST supply Tracking# or receipt EVERY time you post something.

Once you are matched up with your partner, please stay in contact with them! If you haven't heard from your partner in a while, please let us (organizers) know right away. I hope we don't have any flakers, but if we do, it's better if we catch them quickly.

THIS IS A COMPLICATED SWAP AND IT’S LONGER THAN MOST. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read everything before you sign up, and make sure you can commit to everything.

The Hawaiian state bird is the Nene

- Small is better than large. Not only do you have to ship it, your partner has to ship it back! Also, small LVs tend to be easier to haul around town than large ones. ALL LV's must be UNDER 8 inches tall by 6 inches wide.
- Please make sure your LV is durable enough to survive when traveling around in someone's bag, pocket, etc.  We don't want any injuries!
- swaps aren’t perfect, and neither is the mail system. Please don’t send something you’d be heartbroken to lose. There have also been flakers in previous rounds.
- Your partner might have allergies, so it’s best not to send something your cat eats to cuddle up with or that’s been sitting on a shelf next to your incense collection!
- LV doesn’t have to be a stuffed animal, feel free to send some sort of a doll/plastic toy/stuffed animal/poppet instead!

If you want to participate, PM me your info (see below) AND post here on the thread.

Please put “LV SWAP ROUND 25- Approval” as the subject!!! Send your completed questionnaire to the organizer (Wildfyre). Failure to do so may delay your entry into the swap.

*Please note* We are no longer allowing people to pick their partners beforehand. I'm sorry, I know it was popular, but it made our job harder when sign outs ended because we had so few people to work with while assigning partners. The longer this swap goes on the more difficult it is to send LV's places they haven't been before while also respecting allergy issues etc.

I've always wanted to do this swap! I just don't get out much in the winter. If I host a LV for the spring/summer, it may encourage me to get out and do more things! I need to find a LV I can send and then I'll fill out the q!

« Reply #3 on: March 17, 2017 05:49:18 PM »

Just sent in my Q for Dani, but if my partner would rather, I have three other options!

This is Dandelion Fluff On-The-Wind (Dani), she is a 6"-ish jointed bear.

This is Mr. Poe Pouri, Jr, he's about a 5" tall Beanie Baby skunk

These are the Poses, A.D. and Adi, each about 3" tall.  They can travel together or separately.

This is Dee Bunny, she is TINY, only about 1" by 2-3" by 2".

Once we get partners I can ask who you'd prefer, if that's okay, and adjust my Q (the only thing that changes is the physical description of the LV and maybe the phobias - Poe is afraid of air fresheners, the Poses hate Time Lords).

It's a lot of fun! And looking at the area through a tourists eyes always makes me appreciate the place I live a bit more.  Smiley

Just a reminder to everyone-

Please feel free to include as much information as possible in your questionnaire- Things like what souvenirs you usually collect when traveling, what types of sites you find interesting, favorite colors or themes, etc etc.  Being brief or cryptic is not helpful here lol

It makes it SO much easier for your partner. The most difficult rounds of this swap for me personally are ones where my partner is pretty much mute and won't say what they'd like to receive or what sights they'd like their visitor to see.

Not to mention it makes it easier for me to partner people when their personality shows in the questionnaire.

Sorry, I did say "I like everything", because, aside from politics and religion, I really do!

Creepy antique mall?  Yes!
Art night with friends?  Yes!
Baking at home? Yes!
Well-known local tourist sites? Yes!
Less well-known local tourist sites? Yes!
Downright obscure local tourist sites? Yes!
Your workplace?  Yes!
Any sporting event? Yes!
Zoos and Aquariums? Yes!
Watching super cheesy shark movies at home? Yes! (or is that just me?)
Nature hikes? Yes!

Honestly, the list of things I'd like would be too long!  But I'm interested in (just about) everything.

...I should have added the park about SHARKS SHARKS SHARKS for the summer round, though, because there's Cheesy Shark Movie Week on SyFy as well as the proper Shark Week on Discovery.

And what souvenirs/mementos the LV visiting me will bring back will likely be a lot of things I've crafted (based somewhat on what I think they might like if I know anything about them or I just ask), something book club or bellydance related, random things I collect (rubber ducks, tea varieties), and whatever I can get at whatever events I manage to go to (this I am not good at planning because I fail at that entirely).

And I'm an engineer, so I don't have a personality...  ;p  But you can message me and I might babble on about slump tests* and dowel rod optimization** for so long you regret initiating contact (see: engineer, lack of social skills).

* Okay, seriously, superplasticizers are about the coolest thing ever, concrete flows like water but still sets up completely strong and... why are your eyes glazing over?

** This is the joke in my house after I went to the FIFTH concrete roads seminar (oh what an exciting life I lead!) where this was a topic.  All you really need to know is that they don't have to be evenly spaced and... was that a snore?

So, let's see...I live in Tampa, Florida and I run my own business, PhoenixFire Designs both online on etsy as well as doing shows/markets locally various Saturdays. (Mainly October - May since the summers here are too hot to be outside all day both for vendors and for shoppers so our market season kinda dwindles down and takes the summer off.)

I'm artsy and craftsy. I also am a big Disney nerd and annual passholder so I try to get out there at least once a month. (I'd like to go more but my husband doesn't so boo, once a month it is.) I like art museums, craft festivals, history museums, going to the movies, geeky things (like there's a few Comic Cons coming up over the summer I'll be attending! I also cosplay!!) and um...a lot of varied things.

I am a tree hugger but not like a crunchy granola hippy or anything (I shave my armpits for example and hate patchouli LOL) but like I enjoy nature and going to the beach or a local park, etc. I'm not religious and I'm proudly and fiercely liberal so I wouldn't want my LV involved in anything pro-GOP/Trump sorta thing. (Sorry but I'm just being honest.)

I like whimsy and fantasy and sci fi and comic books and Harry Potter and Back to the Future is my favorite movie series of all time. I watch Walking Dead but generally dislike gore, zombies and horror ironically. I'm not into mean but snarky and sarcastic is right up my alley.

When I host a visitor, they tend to see some natural locations like the beach and park, plus they tend to go to Disney and explore around the greater tampa bay area. Often they come with me to be a vendor at shows, and any events or outings (like the aforementioned Comic Cons upcoming) they attend too.

So...yeah. Random babbling is random! But that's a little more about me.

Hi everyone! Here's Ipo (with a dolly friend). He's super excited to travel somewhere!

We're busy a lot of the time with work, but I guess sometimes our work can be exciting! (Husby and I are both musicians, so we're always playing in different places at different times.)  Having a little visitor with me helps me to remember to appreciate the interesting places (and situations) in which I perform!

Anana isn't quite back from his last trip yet and I'm already signing him up to head out again!  Cheesy

Here's a photo of him from last round, around Christmastime:
