Made for the 4X6" swap, little houses have been a theme for me lately. This brick fabric has been in my stash for a very long time and even though it's not in proportion to the house it still works, it's like outrageously big eyes or something like that.

I was considering leaving the light green vines as is but I just want to show you here the difference it made to add leaves.

I like the look of the vines themselves but the thicker, layered stitches really appealed to me to make this look like an almost overgrown building.

I also made this piece for the swap, it's not a lot of stitches that you can see but there is so much hidden stitchery to get that 3-d heart to be the right shape I almost wish it showed.

It's very poofy, more than I managed to capture in a photo. I stuffed it so much and then had to figure out a way to get it to lay flat on the canvas (lots of glue, ha!)

I sewed the fabric up like a pillowcase then put a small canvas board inside and stitched the opening closed. For a hanger I used skirt hooks.

wow!  what tiny and detailed stitching on the house!  You really made good use of that fabric piece...everything blends in so nicely to create your scene!

Also, interesting poofy heart.. love your creative use of eye hooks!

Thanks guys! I've been using eye hooks for projects lately, who knew how versatile those were! LOL.
aristhekat, I just started making french knots recently. I mean, I always knew about them but hadn't really done a lot of them. Now I make sure when I'm making one to make dozens, that way I remember how to do them. There's another sort of embroidery knot, the colonial knot. It's more of a figure eight wrapping. I am going to practice that next:

I'm not feeling the desire to make another house quite yet but I really enjoy them so it probably won't be long Smiley.

These are so creative and skilled! I think the brick fabric is the perfect size for this! I think a smaller brick pattern would have taken away from your beautiful embroidery! And the heart is so cute! I love the fabric choices with that piece too. Love them both!

thanks for the link. I've only recently picked up embroidery and haven't quite gotten to the place of feeling comfortable enough to be creative with it. repetition is key, for sure.

This is absolutely beautiful! I love how unique all the 4x6 art swap pieces are!  I really should look more at those galleries because I never would have though needle point would show up in the art quite like this. All the fabrics and stitches are great!

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.
