These could be for any occasion but this year, for the kids/grands Valentines, I made butterflies from recycled soda cans.  I cropped the tops & bottoms off, slit down the side & flattened the rectangle of aluminum.  I used a marker to trace the pattern on & cut it out with scissors.  A stylus worked to draw in the details & permanent Sharpies gave great colors.  I punched tiny holes in the head with a pin & ran a folded wire from the back to the front thru the holes.  I held a pin behind the head while I coiled the wire ends around it for the antennae.  Then I glued it at the back to hold it in place.  Finished, each measures about 4" x 4".

Each has a small gemstone heart to make it an official Valentine as well as other gemstone embellishments.

I was late mailing them off so I haven't received any opinions on them yet but the cash accompanying them will go a long way to making them acceptable.  It was difficult to get a photo without a lot of glare so this is the best of numerous tries.

Thanks for featuring my project on this site.  I should have been here to express my appreciation earlier but have been off the computer for several days.
