I got into the de-cluttering mood after work one day and came across old t-shirts that I outgrew/hate/stained etc. and decided to turn them into shopping bags. It was super easy and I highly recommend anyone try this. You cut off the sleeves just before the seam and then cut a scoop around the neckline approximately 10" radius and then flip it inside out and do a double seam along the bottom and TA-DA! you have a shopping bag! If you have a tank top it works as well and you only need to seam the bottom just make sure the straps are sturdy enough to hold. Sleeveless tops you can sew in some cute ribbon handles etc, you get the idea! It took maybe 2 minutes to make each one and each are sturdy, easy on the hands to hold and washable. I plan on making more!

T-shirt bags are a great idea! Awesome re-using and so many beautiful patterns and colours available.
Did you use regular thread? I am always concerned about the stretch factor when I use jersey. I do have some of that cob-webby looking thread specifically for that sort of fabric but I've never dared to thread the serger with it, it's just so odd looking. Let me know how the double stitching holds up, would you?

Will do, I used a regular cotton thread.

Great way to repurpose old shirts/tops!  I never bring shopping bags to stores myself, I just use the paper or plastic ones that they give me at the checkout counter (but I do save and re-use those at home for various things, I don't just toss them).  I like the black-and-white striped one the best out of those pictured.

I love how yours came out and I'd like to try it too!  I'm a very visual learner so reading your explanation of how to make one is hard for me to visualize.  Do you think you could post a drawing or something with the instructions written on it, in order of how it's done?  If so, I would really appreciate it.  If not, I understand.
