(image is a fish care calendar page I drew out as one of my 'things' last February)

Last year Wile E Songdog hosted this craftalong, and since she hasn't been on in a while I'm happy to get it rolling this year!

Thing-A-Day is a special craftalong that only runs during the month of February. Our goal is to do something creative every day and take a picture to share! These projects should take around 30 minutes, although they can be longer or slightly shorter if you want. The rules are very loose as this is a personal challenge and not any kind of competition. Putting work into a longer-term project also counts towards your thing for a day - for instance, last year some of my days were just cutting out triangle pieces for a quilt (which I haven't touched since then, aaaaaa).

Projects can be as diverse as a painting, a snow sculpture, a granny square, a batch of funny-shaped pancakes, arranging your bookshelf by color, or patching your old jeans! Honestly it is up to you what you'd like to count as your "thing" for any given day. Creativity comes in many shades.

If you'd like to participate, make a post where your list will go, and then you can update it with links and/or thumbnail pics throughout the month. I'll have a masterpost of everyone's lists.

Let's brainstorm! I for one desperately need to get back to my quilt that I started one year ago, and I'd also like to do some coloring book pages.

I think I might use this craftalong specifically to force myself into making art every day.  I really wish I would stop overthinking art and just get nassy with it, this might be the perfect push!

My list here:

February
1. A5 swap log booklet for my planner. Nothing exciting enough to post a pic, but definitely something I've needed to make for a long time now.
2. ATCs

3. Scrap Masterboards (9 ATC, 14 postcards)

4.  Attempted image transfers onto collaged backgrounds #FAIL
5.  Random fact ATCs

6-8: Experimented with image transfer methods.  Made camel postcard using wax paper transfer.  Also, made postage people ATCs

9-10: made 2 never ending art cards

11. Artistamps

12. Not a thang!

Rough ideas:
Try to do a mini art in a grid each day too
Gelli prints (paper and fabric)
Watercolors
Mail art envies
Clay character bowl
Shrinky charms/bookmarks
Make masterboards to destash paper
Weaving in a hoop?
Practice brush techniques (get to know my brushes)
Make tags
Art techniques cards
Collage practice (surreal, exquisite corpse, layered face, etc)
Silicone paper
Transfer techniques
Wax paper printing

I want to try this - I never finish the ICAD challenge (June 1 - July 31 each summer) but I always start.

I want to make scrappy log cabin blocks - just need to pick a size for the blocks. So I'm in - a block a day.
I will start sorting fabric tonight.

Great to hear all of your ideas! I'm so glad people are joining. Cheesy I think very few people completed every day last year, but it was a fun push.
