Yofi, I have a similar story. When my grandmother died, no one wanted her buffet. The paint was scratched off in places and the piece was dirty from constant use. My mother stripped off 4 layers of paint and put a sealant over the tiger oak. Then everyone in the family wanted it! But it's mine and is staying mine until I die.

Lindy, I can't believe how much detail is in the perler piece. He did a terrific job!

You ladies are like the chicken little's of wood refinishing!

Lindy, that is amazing.

fishstix I'll look out for your finished project, tweaking a pattern can be awesome and horrible all the same time. Best of luck having more of the former than the latter!

I'm knocking off swap items but those aren't really on my must-do list and I can't even show ya anyhow. I'm keeping busy in any case and that's what really matters Cheesy.

Yofi, that stand is beautiful - nice work! I have a dresser in that wood that's in need of refinishing, too.

I finished the crochet market bag for my mother-in-law's birthday present. It's lined in cotton jersey. The lace pattern kind of reminds me of the radioactive symbol (hard to see in the picture, though).  Cheesy

Here is the bag I made for my MIL as a birthday present Smiley

It's meant to be a practical bag she can use when walking her dog Lucy, hence the stitched paw on the front  Grin

I'm working on a swap project. I didn't do any swaps last year, and I missed it.

I love all the practical bags, and the bee letters are beautiful!

Thanks for all the compliments on the shaving stand.  I had a lot of fun with that.  Also wrapping up from last year, I have another piece of refinished furniture

3. Bestafaders table

Back in the 1930s my grandfather, or Bestafader, made a little table just for my father and his twin brother.  Its seen a lot of use over a lot of generations, but eventually it cracked, and one end broke off.  My sister carefully saved the pieces, and I repaired it and gave it a top-to-bottom cleaning

It's very ingenious construction, knock-down long before IKEA came along.  And the top is mostly bird's eye maple -- beautiful work.  I have a lot of respect for my grandfathers work.  A few coats of finish and its ready for the next generation!

4. The Cobblers Daughters Scarf

You know how they say the cobbler children have no shoes?  Despite all the knitting I do, when single digit temperatures hit the first week of January, I realized I had nothing to bundle up in!  So I used up a whole skein of Scarfie and made myself just that!

I have some more things that are neeeeeearly finished....just need buttons, or some elastic, or a seam... and some time!
